Guwahati Arrival:

Assam State Museum: Assam State Museum is a representation of the unique culture and tradition of the northeastern state. It surpasses all the other museums in India, as the biggest multipurpose museum displaying collections in a variety of sections, like archeology, iconography, epigraphy and even numismatics.
Kamakhya Temple: Kamakhya temple is one of the biggest Shakti shrines in the whole of India and also serves an important pilgrimage center for the tantric worshippers as well as the general Hindus. It is a place where the beliefs and practices of the Aryan communities coincide with those of non-Aryan communities, in Assam.
Navagraha Temple: As the name suggests, Navagraha Temple (or the temple of the nine celestial bodies), is a worship place devoted to the nine planets of the solar system, namely Surya (the sun), Chandra (the moon), Buddha (mercury), Mangala (mars), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (Dragon’s head) and finally Ketu (Dragon’s tail).
Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra: Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra, situated in Guwahati, is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Assam. It was constructed in 1990, with the aim of exposing and exhibiting to the world, the exclusive culture and tradition of Assam. It is named after the greatest saint of the Vaishnava culture, Srimanta Sankardeva.
Ugratara Temple: Ugratara Temple is an important Shakti shrine, located in the eastern part of the Guwahati city, in Uzan Bazaar. The temple serves as an important pilgrimage center of the state and attracts tourists from far and wide. It was constructed in 1725, by King Shiva Singh of Ahom Kingdom.
Vasistha Ashram: Vasistha Ashram is situated amidst beautiful natural scenes, in the Sandhychal hills of eastern Guwahati. It is an important pilgrimage center, which was built by the Ahom king, Raja Rajeswar, in the second half of the 18th century. Vasistha is, in fact, the last existing monument built by the Ahom dynasty rulers.
Sukreswar Temple: Located on the Sukreswar or Itakhuli Hill, on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra, in the Panbazar locality, Sukreswar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is famous for housing the sixth Jyotirlinga of India and is usually crowded by devotees all round the year. The entire temple, with its surroundings, offers a magnificent view for the visitors. In fact, people often come here to enjoy the scenery of sun setting on the river. It is also believed that performing the post-death rituals at the place will get ‘moksha’ or peace for the dead. The temple was constructed in 1744, by the Ahom King Pramatta Singha. It is believed to be the place where Sage Sukra used to stay and worship Lord Shiva.

Day 03
Guwahati – Kaziranga:

Transfer to the airport to take flight for Guwahati. Drive to Kaziranga. Reach and check into the hotel.
Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary one of the World Heritage Site is situated in the northeastern state of Assam in India. The Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary houses world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceros, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In the heart of Assam, this park is one of the last areas in eastern India undisturbed by a human presence.
It was an alarming depletion in the numbers of Rhinos, due to hunting and poaching that led to the conservation of this area in 1926. In 1940, Kaziranga was declared a sanctuary. Today, Kaziranga supports the largest number of rhino in the subcontinent. The Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the great one horned Indian Rhino, about 900 in number. Apart from Rhinos, it is also famous for Indian Elephants. Elephant Safari or Jeep Safari is the two ways to explore the wild in the wilds. If you have too much time in your hand, then go for an Elephant Safari or else you take a Jeep Safari. Elephant Safari is slower but, more thrilling as compared to Jeep Safari, as you get too much time to feel the surroundings in a natural way. Take a forest Guide with yourself as you venture into the forest area, as he will be of great help to you throughout your forest trip.
As you start your venture into the forest world, you will come across the swamps and grasslands with tall thickets of elephant grass and patches of evergreen forest, and in between you will have a meeting with various creatures. The tranquil atmosphere of the jungle will absorb you in its green beauty, as you proceed further and further. The unique flora will leave you absolutely astound. The beautiful swamplands with an abundant cover of water lilies, water hyacinth and lotus are some delightful breaks amidst the thick patches of evergreen forests. In Kaziranga, the rhinos, the elephants and other wildlife wander freely, so at every step you may come across varied species of fauna.
The Fauna: In between your venture into the Kaziranga (whether by a Jeep or Elephant) your eyes will be captivated by the major wild attractions which will include a large population of Indian Elephants, Indian Bison, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Hog Deer, Sloth Bears, Tigers, Leopard Cats, Jungle Cats, Otters, Hog Badgers, Capped Langurs, Hoolock Gibbons, Wild Boar, Jackal, Wild Buffalo, Pythons, Monitor Lizards, etc. You will also come across animal like barking deer, Sambar, golden Langurs, Slow Loris, pygmy hog, capped langur and bears.
The Avifauna: In addition to the fauna, Kaziranga also houses a large number of avifauna. Do try to visit the avifauna section; the musical notes of the singing birds there will increase your drive to visit the sanctuary extensively. Don't ever try to compete them in singing as there are many to challenge you. You will be challenged by the Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-Shouldered Kite, Black Kite, Brahminy Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Griffon, etc. Huge numbers of migratory birds descend on the parks lakes and swampy areas during winters, including Greylag Geese, Bar-Headed Geese, Ruddy Shelduck, Gadwall, Falcated Duck, Red-Crested Pochard and Northern Shoveller.
The Reptiles: Another place for you to visit and get inspired. You will find Rock Pythons and many more varieties of snakes, Monitor Lizards and Turtles there.

Day 04
Kaziranga:
Breakfast will be at the hotel.
Proceed for full day game viewing inside the jungle. (Two safaris with lunch break in-between).

After visiting the National Park, don't forget to visit the other attractions of the area. Do try to lick every part of the area, as it will make your trip a mixed box of sweet, sour and salty, something you would really prefer. There are many places which you can visit here, while you stay at Kaziranga National Park. The Kakochang waterfall is 13 km from Bokakhat in the Jorhat district of Assam. Not far from the park are the ruins of the ancient Numaligarh (in the Golaghat district of Assam). These ruins are of great archaeological importance. The tea gardens of Hathkhuli, Methoni, Difalu, Behora Borchapori (all in Assam) are also other local attractions. Also visit the coffee and rubber plantations, you may find them at the back of your tourist lodge.
And, yes make sure to taste the cuisine of Assam, as that is the best way to know about the real culture of any place. If you keep interest in collecting mementos from various places, then buy some bamboo made items, as they are the most beautifully made exclusive items of this place.

Guwahati – Shillong:

Shillong is the picturesque district headquarters of the East Khasi Hills and one of the northeast's most popular hill stations. Its stunning natural setting enshrouded in mists, broken by sunny days, urge you to venture into the green hillsides to spend wonderful moments in the outdoors. In 1876, the English set about separating the province of Assam from Bengal. The English of the Raj-era had an uncanny instinct for uncovering some of the most delightful secrets of our mountain ranges and when they came upon this little mountain village (at the time a part of Assam) they set about replicating a bit of Scotland here for themselves in these beautiful highlands. First they established a garrison township of the Khasi and Jaintia Hills, because of its strategic location between the Surma Valley of Bangladesh and the Bramhaputra River. Then, they very quickly started converting it into a sprawling civil base; complete with churches, Victorian bungalows with flower filled gardens, and schools where their kids could grow up strong and healthy in the unpolluted mountain air.
Relax and then proceed for the sightseeing.
Ward's Lake; Located in the heart of the city, popular for short garden walks and boating, celebrated its centenary recently.
Botanical Garden: A secluded but captivating spot with plethora of indigenous and exotic plants and is located just below the Ward's Lake.
Lady Hydari Park: A popular charming tourist draw, the adjacent mini zoo is an added attraction.
Golf Course: The third oldest golf course in India. Developed in 1889 as a nine hole course, was later converted to 18 holes in 1924 by Captain Jackson and C. R. Rhodes. It is termed as the 'Gleneagle of the East' at the United States Golf Association Library and Museum.
Bishop and Beadon Falls: Both cascade down the same escarpment into a deep valley, the mass of water dissolving into misty sparks.

Day 08
Shillong:
Breakfast will be at the hotel.
Proceed for the sightseeing.
Shillong Peak: An ideal picnic spot, 10 kms from the city, 1965 meters above sea level, offers a panoramic view of the scenic country side, and is also the highest point in the State. Obeisance is paid to U Shulong at the sanctum sanctorum at the peak's summit every spring time, by the religious priest of Mylliem State. In the evening the city lights below appear like a star-studded abyss.
Sohpetbneng Peak; 1,343 meter, 20 kms from Shillong, regarded as sacred by the Hynniewtrep people, is set amidst a beautiful scenic view against the backdrop of a sacred forest. This 'Navel of Heaven' as per Khasi mythology is a heavenly peak which offers to fill the spiritual void and emptiness, to those who seek and desire solace and peace of mind.
Elephant Falls: 12 kms on the outskirts of the city, the mountain stream descends through two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks.

Day 09
Shillong – Excursion to Cherrapunjee:
After breakfast proceed for an excursion to Cherrapunjee.
Cherrapunjee (Sohra): 56 kms from Shillong, situated in one of the rainiest rain-belt in the world, 1,300 meters above sea level. A pleasant drive to see roaring waterfalls leaping into deep gorges, including the famed Nohsngithiang falls. The lovely town is also famous for its limestone caves and orange honey. Centre of Khasi culture and literature, it also has the oldest Presbyterian Church and also an establishment of the Ramakrishna Mission.

Day 10
Shillong – Guwahati - Departure:
